New Hub Platform

The hubs of the new CARBON CORE™ wheels have been completely redesigned unilizing an entirely new construction with a carbon composite that combines both long fiber and woven fiber. The circular hub flanges are larger for improved spoke support to reduce flex between the hub and spokes for even greater stiffness. This new hub platform is exceptionally stable and provides robust bearing support and enhanced lateral stiffness. This combination results in superior responsiveness and stability, especially when sprinting, diving into corners and climbing out of the saddle.

There has never been a wheelset this light and this responsive!

Roller Bearing Freehub

To complement the new hub shell, the rear axle assembly has been entirely redesigned as well. This assembly now includes a proprietary roller bearing freehub body, a hardened hollow axle and lighter-weight hardware - a savings of 30 grams!

The roller bearing used in the freehub has a much higher load rating than a comparable ball bearing assembly - with significantly increased bearing durability. And this new bearing is placed directly in line with the pawls, rather than cantilevered and offset from the pawls (as in other 4-bearing rear hubs). This positioning significantly reduces any flex of the freehub body under torque, resulting in a stiffer and stronger system, while also maintaining optimum pawl alignment for optimal torque transfer and longevity.

New Metal-Backed Lip Seal

The new freehub seal is a metal-supported elastomer lip seal that is pressed directly into the hub shell. Improved sealing, reduced friction and the elimination of a break-in period are a few of the benefits of this new seal. A labyrinth groove has been incorporated around the seal lip, taking the sealing capability one step further and insuring that contaminants stay out of the works. Both the new seal and labyrinth groove have been incorporated across the entire Topolino wheel lineup.

Ceramic Bearings Now Available

All Topolino wheels come with premium ABEC-5 bearings pre-installed at the factory. These are extremely high quality bearings, with higher sphericity and closer tolerances, when compared with standard bearings found on the majority of other wheels.

But for those looking for the ultimate in bearing performance, Topolino offers ceramic bearings as an optional factory-installed upgrade on the CARBON CORE™ Series wheelsets. These ceramic bearings use silicon nitride balls, with even greater sphericity and reduced heat build up, for reduced rolling friction, and consistency throughout the rpm range.

Topolino Re-Invents the Bicycle Wheel

The CARBON CORE™ Series of wheels employs the unique Topolino wheel construction, where carbon fiber and Kevlar™ spokes span all the way across the diameter of the wheel through a thermoplastic carbon hub shell. This design is remarkably strong, light, and smooth-riding.

Topolino continues to offer the Revelation™ wheelsets and is improving on this product line as well - including improved molding of the hub with greatly increased fiber length, as well as the metal backed elastomer lip seal.
